WOODEN BONES

My first book cover job! I’ve been waiting awhile to post this one, so I’m glad I finally can. I finished the cover art back in July and I have to say it was my favorite assignment to date. Thank you to Laurent Linn of Simon and Schuster for the great art direction and cover design.

The book is called “Wooden Bones” and it is, as the author, Scott William Carter, puts it: “The untold story of Pinocchio, with a dark twist. Pino, as he’s come to be known after he became a real boy, has discovered that he has the power to bring puppets to life himself . . .” It’s a great read and was full of fantastic visuals to draw from. If you’d like to find out more, you’ll just have to wait until August 2012 when it comes out.

In addition to the cover art and final design, I’ve included my thumbnail sketches for the job. The sketch process was a breeze because of all the fun elements I had to work with. The most exciting part was figuring out how a puppet-turned-boy might look.

Thanks for stopping by!
