ISRAEL

I just returned from a trip to Israel. Of all the places I saw, I felt the most connected to Jerusalem. Jerusalem has a kind of magic to it. Its a beautiful city where ancient and modern uncomfortably occupy the same space. Religious architecture at every turn, each building visually competing with the other. I tried to take it all in and capture what was important to me. This painting represents the best moment of my trip, sitting on a wall overlooking the al-Aqsa Mosque, the western wall, and christian churches on the hillside.

I’ve been extremely lucky to travel in the past couple years and it has done so much for me on a personal level. It represents a chance for me to reconnect. Not only with the rhythms of seeing and drawing, but also with life. I can return to my everyday routine with a fresh perspective. At any rate, its nice to get away from a computer for awhile.

Thanks for looking.
